Here begins the bend of the Danube with a breathtaking view of the classic basilica in Ostrichom. The rivers Ipeľ and Hron flow into the Danube here. Štúrovo is primarily a spa town. The origins of the thermal swimming pool go back to 1973, when a borehole drilled near the Danube to a depth of 130 meters discovered a spring of thermal water with a temperature of 39.7 °C. To this day, not only the Vadaš thermal swimming pool, but also the indoor pool of the Guest Center hotel draws from this thermal water.

On the Slovak side of the Danube lie the Burdy Mountains (Kováčovské hills), on the Hungarian side the Piliš Mountains stretch. Both represent an excellent opportunity for hiking and smaller trips. In their protected area, we can discover the beauty of natural monuments and reserves and the uniqueness of the surrounding flora and fauna.

Even while walking on the banks of the Danube, we will certainly not miss the dominant feature of the area - the Ostrihom Basilica, which is the largest church building in Hungary. Tourists have access from the crypt to the dome in the basilica for a fee.
When Vadaš has had its fill of fun, just cross the Márie Valérie Bridge and you can try the Aquasziget spa complex in Ostrihom, where you can find other water attractions, water slides, a water cave, a geyser, a whirlpool,...
Halfway between Štúrov and Budapest you will find another piece of history – Vyšehrad, an ancient town with a castle. Matej Korvín gave the castle its present form in the 15th century. but the Romans built fortifications here already in the 4th century. Therefore, the castle itself and its surroundings breathe history, and from the castle we have an impressive view of the Danube as it meanders through the Pilišsko-Novohradská valley.
If after a while the idyllic scenery of a small town ceases to suit you and you yearn for the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, you can visit Budapest, the queen of the Danube, from Štúrov. You can see the rich history of Hungary's capital and largest city even from the ship's deck: the parliament building, the Buda Castle with its courtyard, the chain bridge... It stretches along both banks of the Danube River, the individual parts of the city are connected by 12 road and 2 railway bridges. When you take a walk in the early evening along Andrássy Avenue to Heroes' Square, you will understand why Budapest is sometimes called Paris of the East.
